Always verify the base (PU20d family) before ordering; this bulb is not the wedge?base W16W. | SYMPTOMS | Reverse lamp inoperative or intermittent, iDrive/Check Control ‘reverse lamp malfunction,’ or flickering. On E9x cars, trunk?lid harness/connector issues can also cause reverse light faults. |
| TROUBLESHOOTING | If a new bulb does not illuminate, inspect the bulb holder contacts for corrosion and verify ground/loom integrity in the trunk lid. Some BMW service info notes intermittent reverse light operation can be resolved by replacing the bulb first. |
| INSTALLATION | Access the reverse?light bulb holder from inside the trunk; twist the PU20d bulb holder counter?clockwise to remove, swap the bulb, and re?install. Do not touch the glass with bare fingers; use gloves to avoid shortening halogen bulb life. |
