FITMENT Fits select 2014-2020 GM full‑size trucks and SUVs and 2014+ performance models equipped with AFM/DFM, including 4.3L V6 and 5.3L/6.2L V8 engines (and certain 2019 Silverado 1500 2.7L applications). Verify by VIN before purchase. Cadillac Escalade (2015-2020): 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Camaro (2016-2022): 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Corvette (2014-2019): 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (2014-2019): 4.3L V6, 5.3L V8, 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (2019): 2.7L Turbo Chevrolet Suburban (2015-2020): 5.3L V8 Chevrolet Suburban (2019-2020): 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Tahoe (2015-2020): 5.3L V8 Chevrolet Tahoe (2018-2020): 6.2L V8 GMC Sierra 1500 (2014-2019): 5.3L V8, 6.2L V8 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited (2019): 5.3L V8 GMC Yukon (2015-2020): 5.3L V8, 6.2L V8 GMC Yukon XL (2015-2020): 5.3L V8, 6.2L V8
SYMPTOMS Common indications include an illuminated MIL and cylinder‑deactivation DTCs such as P3400 (Bank 1) or P3497 (Bank 2). Vehicle may disable AFM/DFM, show reduced fuel economy, or exhibit roughness during transition. Rule out low/dirty oil and oil‑pressure issues before condemning the solenoid.
TROUBLESHOOTING With a scan tool, command cylinder deactivation and monitor response; back‑probe for battery feed and PCM‑switched ground/PWM at the solenoid. Inspect wiring/connectors, verify oil level/quality, and check for debris in the VLOM passages. If DTCs P3498–P349F occur with no mechanical faults, GM guidance may require ECM reprogramming to the latest calibration.
INSTALLATION Access is beneath the intake manifold on the valley cover/VLOM. Disconnect battery, remove intake, unplug connector, remove retaining fasteners, and replace the solenoid and any seals/O‑rings. Torque fasteners to factory spec, clear codes, and road‑test. Maintain correct oil viscosity to protect AFM/DFM components.
MAINTENANCE
GENERAL_NOTES On some engines the solenoid interfaces with or is part of the Valve Lifter Oil Manifold (VLOM). Persistent misfire/tick on specific cylinders can indicate lifter/mechanical faults rather than a solenoid issue; diagnose accordingly.
