FITMENT Fits select 2013–2016 GM HD trucks and vans equipped with the 6.6L Duramax diesel and 2014–2015 Cruze with the 2.0L diesel. Module requires programming after installation. Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD (2013-2016): 6.6L Duramax V8 (LML) GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD (2013-2016): 6.6L Duramax V8 (LML) Chevrolet Express (2013-2016): 6.6L V8 Diesel GMC Savana (2013-2016): 6.6L V8 Diesel Chevrolet Cruze (2014-2015): 2.0L L4 Diesel (LUZ)
SYMPTOMS Common signs of a failing glow plug control module include the glow plug warning lamp flashing or staying on, hard starting or rough running when cold, and diagnostic trouble codes such as U0106 (Lost Communication with GPCM) and P0671–P0678 (cylinder-specific glow plug circuit faults).
TROUBLESHOOTING Before replacement, verify power/ground and glow plug fuses, inspect connectors/harness for corrosion or damage, and measure individual glow plug resistance (replace any out?of?range plug). If a single?cylinder code persists, swap that glow plug to see if the fault follows the plug (plug fault) or remains at the cylinder (wiring/module).
INSTALLATION Disconnect the negative battery cable(s). On Duramax trucks the GPCM is mounted near the right?hand cylinder head; remove engine cover as the first step, unplug harnesses, unbolt and replace the module. Program/configure the new module with GM Service Information procedures using Techline Connect/SPS to ensure proper operation.
MAINTENANCE
GENERAL NOTES This module is discontinued from GM in many channels; availability may be limited. Some sellers offer remanufactured/programmed units; provide VIN to ensure correct calibration. For 2011–2012 LML trucks use 12652113 (not interchangeable). 2017+ L5P trucks use a different controller (e.g., 12721593). Related hardware such as the GPCM bracket (12637549) may be needed if corroded.
